Cadmus runs on the principles of shared vision, interdependence, and interaction. We believe that a system based on these principles will value people and
create optimal conditions for those with special needs to be supported and treated with dignity, respect, and maximum attention to the specifics of their individual lives. We believe that people learn, live, and labor most effectively when they are appreciated, honored, and valued for the contributions they make to the common good.
What makes a rich life for persons with disabilities? We believe it is a life of interdependence . . . a life where all of us feel valued for what we are able to contribute to one another. No one is without limitations. Our goal is to create a community where our limitations don't un-necessarily hamper us in expressing who we are and what we wish to accomplish.
Great Barrington is a very welcoming town that has made us all feel at home as we shop, dine out, and simply go about our daily lives.
The households join together for many social and therapeutic activities thereby giving everyone in the community a wide circle of friends and opportunity for fun, growth, and support.
Cadmus is a part of a Berkshire Lifesharing Group that includes seven other lifesharing homes as well as other local initiatives that are oriented to the needs of people with disabilities, such as Community Access to the Arts, Blue Rider Stable, and Cadmus Weavers.
