Volunteering

Lifesharing relies on the involvement, dedication, creativity, and heart of our many volunteers. In each lifesharing home there are two to four volunteers who stay for approximately one year. Most come to us through one of two international volunteer placement services – SCI or Freunde. And, of course, we welcome volunteers from the United States as well!

SCI (Service Civil International) holds that living and working together with people of different backgrounds helps to break down barriers and prejudices worldwide. The opportunity allows the volunteer to experience a world of mutual respect and understanding. In this sense, volunteering can be seen as a way of life - a demonstration of the possible reality of a peaceful and cooperative world. To learn more about SCI please visit www.sciint.org.

Freunde (Freunde der Erziehungskunst Rudolf Steiners e.V.) is a German volunteer placement organization that facilitates young men interested in fulfilling their military service requirement through civil service in volunteering in a lifesharing home. To learn more about Freunde please visit freunde-waldorf.de.

Volunteers come for a variety of personal reasons. Most come to live and work with people with special needs, experience the ideal in performing a service, and experience living in community. They form lifelong relationships and we expand our circle of support. Lifesharing is not only enhanced by the people who volunteer, it is made possible.

If you are interested in volunteering in a lifesharing home, please go to the 'Contact Us' page and let us know!
